The Adventures of Little Luz

Fun At Nana's...

Today Little Luz came to play at Nana's house. We stopped at the garden center on the way and Luz got to pick out all the flowers that we would (hopefully) plant today! She chose yellow and purple pansies for the front garden, and 4 pink gerber daisies and 1 red gerber daisy and 1 yellow gerber daisy and 2 sweet williams for the side garden. We decided that was enough for THIS time!

While we were diggin' and plantin' Luz found a WORM! That pretty much ended her interest in planting. She wanted to keep the worm for a pet, I believe... but she accidentally dropped him and he was pretty darn quick about reclaiming his earthly home! I promised if I found another one he would be all hers!

We didn't get to the side garden and the gerbera daisies. Luz decided she wanted to play in the sandbox (for about a minute) (okay... maybe 10) and then she wanted to swing! She has learned how to swing in the "big girl swing" now and following in all my children's footsteps, she could swing ALL. DAY. LONG. She just loves it! So I pushed and pushed and pushed her and she giggled and giggled and giggled! What a sweet sound! Then we heard a car come home - and we thought it was Aunti Krysti -- but it was PopPop! He came home early today! But a few minutes later Aunti Krysti came home -- and she brought a TREAT with her! ( i DO want to point out here that it was NOT the Nana that bought the junk food this time!!! ) Aunti Krysti brought Luz her CHOICE of a grape or a raspberry tootsie-pop! Luz chose purple - but then she didn't like it. What she DID like was Aunti Krysti's Doritos!!! LOL! Luz is really NOT a candy kid. She really IS a "chip" kid. Or a cookie monster. You can't even impress her with chocolate.

After her little snack we took the chalk and her bike up to the circle and Aunti Krysti WOW'd her with her name & a star! LOL! Then Nana traced Krysti on the pavement, and as anticipated, Luz wanted to be traced as well! So Aunti Krysti traced her!

It's been a very VERY long time since we've had crime scene
bodies up on our cul-de-sac -- it sure is good to see them back!!!

Luz pedaled her trike up to the stop sign and back - twice!
And then decided she wanted her scooter instead!

The scooter was very short lived this time!
Once down the driveway and push back up --
that was it!

A little more chalk time as Luz writes her name.
(She had written "Luz" a few feet away)
Here she is working on Estrella!

She then decided it was time to go in for another little snack -- some crackers this time - with ONE piece of cheese. Half way through the first cracker she decided she needed a ride on PopPop's tractor and off they went!

I didn't take THIS picture today -- this was
actually from Easter -- but she had this much FUN
again today!

Then she decided it was time to come IN THE HOUSE to play ... on Nana's computer.
But I had installed a new Winnie The Pooh game that she had never played before...
so it was good!

Now...
I wonder how MUCH of this day
her mommy & daddy heard about?
(she's not the best teller in the world...)
:)

A Lotta Luz...

Yea, so apparently I am falling down in my job as the Nana! Ummmm... like I'm not keeping Luz's blog up-to-date! Annnnnnd... the Mama unit has no interest in actually learning how to DO this... so MY job is to post every email she sends me... with pics. ROFL!!! (NOT that I get that many emails either....) But... let us NOW do a little back-tracking and catching UP on what has been happening in the life of our little shining star!

The Christmas Adventure

The mommy said:
On Christmas morning she was very lazy and laid back, she came into our room and wanted to lay in bed with us for a while before she went out to see what santa brought and open presents. I just wanted to jump right out of bed and get started, lol. She was the SLOWEST present opener on the planet, lol. She enjoyed her toys but it really took until later in the day at nanna and pop pop's to really get into it all. We were all just so excited to have her there with us but she was way more laid back then any of us ever could have been!!!

The New Years EVE Adventure

The Mommy said:
Christmas was special indeed...but honestly I think that New Years was better. She is my little party girl and she LOVES to be at a PARTY! NEW YEARS was EXCITING. I had decided to have the gathering at our place and Luz knew we were going to have a PARTY. She was so excited she couldn't stand it. We went to Party City to get decorations and such and she was trying on hats and dancing around.

The favorite party hat!

She kept thinking it was someone's birthday though. She was not understanding the new year thing and why on earth we would have a party if wasn't someone's birthday! Every now and then she would just stop and say "Happy Birthday mommy!" and I would say its not my birthday silly, its a happy new year party. When we got home from the party store she tried it with daddy. "Happy Birthday daddy!" He said its not my birthday. She said "well then who???" lol, this went on and on.

A Dance with Daddy!

We had music on while we were decorating and she danced and danced. She got very good at "shakin her butt." It is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

A SWINGING good time with Uncle Mathew!

BLASTING OFF to parts unknown
with Mommy!

Little "Party" Girl!

At midnight she blew her noise maker with us and yelled Happy New Year...finally she got it !!! lol. I always new that 2008 would be nothing less than GREAT!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

Tootin' in the New Year!!!
YAY!~ YAY!~ YAY!

Luz At Allen's Pond...

Today Nana, and Memaw, and Little Luz went on an adventure at Allen's Pond. Our original intention was to take Luz over to ride the NEW Dora bike Santa brought her for Christmas! That plan took an abrupt change!

First Luz was distracted by the playground!
(nothing wrong with following life's little distractions...)

Soon enough she decided to give the bike a try!

And... soon enough she decided pedaling
really wasn't working for her!

Running is really EVER so much more fun!
(especially with helmet, knee pads and elbow pads!)

Well, okay ... so maybe NOT a helmet! But knee
pads and elbow pads really ARE cooool!

Nana? Could you PLEASE try to keep up?

Where does THIS go Nana?

Tie my shoe, please?
(i think she just needed a rest!)

There was a cool Gazebo at the top overlooking the Pond -
but there was a "young couple" up there, so we high tailed it
back down!

C'mon Nana... Memaw's over here!

See? We're back!

The "Just Us" Adventures . . .

So Hector and I had our first real, just the 3 of us outing last night. We have had many outings but his family or my family has always been with us. We went bowling, which she was VERY excited about going to do! The BEST part was that Santa was there when we got there ( an employee just wanting to make kids happy) and he was free!!! Luz RAN in the door, RAN right into his arms, with out him even expecting it, he picked her up and we took her picture. He didn't even have time to know she was there before he realized he was holding this cuddly, loving little girl! She was THE HIT of the night. ALL of the employees fell immediately in love and thought she was the cutest thing on earth. It was a lot of fun to say the least and praying that her 6lb ball made it all the way down the lane was common practice, lol! She actually could not have cared less if it made it all the way down, nor did she care if she hit a pin. Once the fun of throwing the ball was over....that was it. There was nothing else to care about, lol...oh, except the chicken strips waiting over at the table. Apparently they are DELICIOUS!

Today was raining and yucky outside, plus mommy and daddy are OUT OF MONEY so we had to come up with something inside and free. I looked on line and found the Chesapeake Children's Museum. It was about 15 minutes away in Annapolis and it was free as long as we took some canned goods. It was great. They had all kinds of different aquariums of fish, turtles, frogs, snakes, sharks, eel, lizards, chinchillas and a rabbit. They had lots of musical instruments to play and lots of interactive toys. It was a house that someone had turned into this cool, laid back, hippie type place. Everything was used or donated and and it was a very free spirited type place. It took her a while to warm up but once she did she loved it!

Mommy and Luz play dress up....
She was only interested in dressing up with the SHOES!!!

Tonight she surprised the HELL out of me. Her new things is that she LOVES to just sit at the computer and pretend she is typing. So she sits and types and types. Tonight she says "mommy, I spelled Luz." So I walk over and sure enough she had typed L-U-Z on the screen. To make sure that it wasn't a fluke, I erased it and asked her to do it again...so she did! She is a genius I tell ya! She had been learning this from a puzzle that PopPop had made for her but I did not know that she could recognize the letters on the keypad. I was soooooooo proud! :)

Luz decides to wear her Fairy hat while being
Dora the explorer!!!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Wednesday night we decided to decorate for Christmas...well actually I decided, lol. We do not typically keep junk food in the house and Luz LOVES Doritos so I stopped and bought a big bag of Doritos, for daddy and Luz and a bag of old bay crab potato chips for me and some Pina Colada mix for mommy and daddy to share the cheer with :)

She was so cute, she was very excited and when I pulled the tinsel out of the bag she took it all and put it on her head and ran around wearing the tinsel. Then she decided since daddy doesn't have any hair HE should wear it on his head. So he did. She couldn't decide which was better, the Doritos or the decorating so she took turns giving each of them equal attention! We all had a LOT of fun, it was very special.

Enjoy the pics...yes our tree is very small, dont make fun of it!

Nana, the Babysitter... Day 1

This is Nana Banana the BEST babysitter in the whole world, reporting LIVE from ... blogland! Today was the Mommy's first day back to work, and Nana got to babysit the darlingest grandbaby in the world. We started out going to McDonald's to meet Uncle Mathew for lunch... only Luz had already had lunch so she just drank milk and played with the Happy Meal Toy - Pinocchio... which by the way, she said needed to STAY at McDonald's when we left -- so it did.

Although Nana brought the hula hoops today - and Luz was WAAAAAAAAY impressed with Nana's hoop abilities, she is was not much into the old if at first you don't succeed, try try again thing... she did enjoy carrying her hula hoop around though. We actually even TOOK it to McDonald's for lunch... yea...

We had hoped for a very pretty day - because it was rather warmish - in the 60's - and that's not supposed to happen again for quite some time... so we had hoped... but instead it jusssst barely drizzled all afternoon - jussssst enough to keep the playground all wet so we couldn't use it! Grrrr! I dare say our Little Luz is a model that NEEDS a certain amount of outdoor play and hOOpla each and every day. And the fresh air probably doesn't hurt anything either! But that was not going to happen today... so instead we played with boring dumb ol toys! LOL! (not that ANY of HER toys are boring or dumb ol' ... in fact they are all quite exciting and quite brand new!) So we played, and we sang, and we she jUmPeD on the "jumpoline" as she calls it... and we read stories! I finally convinced her that stories were NOT just for bedtime and that I had NO intention of making her take a nap... no indeed ... as a matter of fact I was threatened with dastardly evil and even painful consequences if I were indeed to allow her to accidentally fall asleep for even so much as one minute! No! No sleep for this model! This is a sleep-free model! So I read her several stories - and then after I read If You Give A Mouse A Cookie 3 TIMES - she read it to me!

Mostly what we did was build blocks! (okay... maybe it was equal shares of the Diego video game to hunt down wild animals in the jungle and blocks) Little Luz LIKES blocks! She likes to build them. She likes to knock them down. She likes when they FALL down without being knocked! Annnnnd she is very creative in her play with blocks! We made towers, and we made a huuuuuuge pyramid, and we made a house! Well... sort of a house... SHE called it a house! And we used some of the critters from the farm for people and she played she was the little something and I was the mommy something and she made little squeaky voices for her little thing.
(she was a squirrel... I was a bunny) And she made a car out of blocks, and she used my telephone for the store! The child is a bloomin' genius, I'm tellin' ya! Very innovative!

Learning New Things!

Some parents may brag about their child learning their abc's or 123's - but we have more fun things to brag about! LOL! Seeing how Luz's Mommy doesn't have much time to blog, I am posting a bit -- paraphrasing from an email the Mommy sent me - including some pictures!

The family visited Uncle Mathew's house the other night where Luz learned how to shoot pool! (very important stuff for 3 year olds to know!) Here is the Daddy teaching her the finer points.

And HERE is Luz figuring out for herself a much
EASIER way to play this game!
(did I tell ya she was a smart child???)

~~~~~~~
Now for some OLYMPIC TRAINING!!!
Mommy has been teaching Little Luz how to do a somersault!
She has now mastered the process and tumbles all over the apartment!
Starting position!
Ready to roll!
A PERFECT tumble!
(Nana gives it a 10.0)
TA-DAAA!
(did ya see her stick that landing?)
(and with MATCHING socks too!)
Whooo hooo!
