. . . In which Luz meets Nana... & Nana meets Luz ...
Ohhhhh my gosh! Oh my gosh! This is *slaps self*
NO! Do NOT skip to the end before you get there Nana! Start at the beginning! Ohhhhh... okay....
Well... because I was in fear of
Spontaneous Combustion, I texted Amanda this morning to tell her that when Luz's mouth was done eating cereal I would appreciate it if she called me -- I would like to hear her little voice. She texted me back and said NO, that wouldn't work because Luz won't talk! BUT... she was bringing her down to see me!!! YAY!!! (then I really DID almost explode!)
Soooo... when I saw the car come down my driveway, I of course ran out to meet them! I didn't grab my camera - cuz I was JUST going out to meet them! Silly me... Little Luz got out of the car and Amanda introduced her to me, and she said "no." ??? No. No what Luz? Well... it turns out that Luz has a Tia Nina back in Texas -- and I am certainly NOT her... but that is who Poor Baby thought she was going to visit today! I immediately became "suspect". Great. Well - I volunteered to BE somebody else! I wasn't completely attached to the idea of Nana yet! LOL! But Luz became distracted by the HEE-LL.

Apparently I had forgotten how flat Texas is - because this little one was fascinated by my back hill ... and she wanted to go down there! I thought the true fascination might have been Derek's skate ramp, which is at the bottom of the hill -- which she did like -- but no, the true fascination WAS the HEE-LL! While we were at the bottom exploring the skate ramp - Just like Dora! - Uncle Derek came out ... WITH Jewl! Suddenly I wasn't nearly as suspicious as I had been! Derek was sure Luz hated him... but the really suspicious one was Jewl! (goodness, where WAS my camera???) Jewl is 2 1/2 of Luz - and Luz really didn't want any part of her! She didn't cry - but she certainly scurried up into the arms of Mommy! Jewl went and dug an old ball out of the woods - and Derek earned points when he kicked the ball verrrrry far - sending Jewl off running! GO Derek!!!

We were finally able to convince Luz to go back up to the TOP of the hill - which is where our dilapidated old playground lives! (and I was able to run in and get my camera!) Luz was not interested in the single seater swings - but she did very much like the "porch swing". First she pushed Mommy on it. Then Mommy pushed Luz... Then Nana pushed Mommy on a single seater ... and finally Nana got to push Luz!!! And I pushed her to the MOON! And she lauuuughed! And we became friends!
After a long while we were finally able to lure Luz inside - to go see the guinea pig! Yes -- I had been babysitting my grandpig while they were in Texas picking up my grandbaby! They were here today to pick up the little critter. I would have been happy to make a fair trade - but Amanda seemed intent on getting BOTH of them! She can be stingy like that... :) Luz was quite

fascinated with Tupak, and fed him about half a stick of celery before deciding that SHE wanted the celery instead! When she was done with that, she and I sat down to color and together we drew a Christmas tree and I drew Luz - and then she drew Me! And then we drew a snowman! Great stuff, I tell ya!
Next Luz and I decided to go for a walk in the big wide world! Mommy was talkin' on the phone to Aunt Lisa so we left her behind which concerned Luz a little bit - but not enough to keep her from going for the walk! We walked UP Nana's long driveway... and then we walked all the way down to the STOP sign! (about a tenth of a mile - lol!) On the way we talked about things. We talked

about shadows... but I don't think she got it. I tried to show her our shadows. I waved... and my shadow waved. Then I showed her that her shadow was waving as I made her wave. But she was looking off down the road! Then I tried to see if she could step on her shadow -- but she got down very close to the street looking verrrrrry hard... I don't think she saw it! LOL! We'll revisit shadows on another day! We also talked about the broken parts of the road (pot holes), and we had a long talk about the STOP sign and "why". She wanted to continue our walk on down the big road - but I told her no - that road is too big and the cars go too fast. I bet in Texas she could go for much longer walks - and probably had sidewalks!!! She probably thought I was crazy! But when we got back to the house, she wanted to get her baby doll and repeat the whole walk while pushing her stroller! So we did! And on the 2nd walk she remembered that we STOP when we get to the STOP sign! She really is very

smart I think! She just needs to be exposed to a lot of things! I was amazed while watching her play a little while later. She was putting people in the bus. You notice there is a BIG hole on top of the bus - you can just reach in and put people in and out. But no. That is not the way Luz does it. She opens the door of the bus, and she walks them up the steps, through the door, down the aisle and into their "seats"... and that's how they get off the bus too! It was so adorable! This was Derek's school bus when he was little - and I guarantee you HE (and my other kids) put the people in and out through the top!
So... NOW I can finish the story the way I WANTED to start it. This IS the sweeeeeetest little girl who ever walked the face of the earth! She is such a DOLL! And by the time the day was done, I had received HUGE hugs, many kisses, and I am quite positive that Little Miss Luz and Nana are going to have quite a special relationship!!! My God, I LOVE that little girl!!! I never thought it was possible to love a child like that if you didn't meet them from birth! But this is one very special little lady - and I don't think I am one bit prejudiced! LOL! What do you think???
Little Luz Comes Home!

Yesterday little Luz woke up ready to get on the "PLANE!", she had picked out a little pink, princess travel suitcase to put her travel toys in and was wheeling it all around the house. She kept saying "we going to PLACES!" She had loved the trampoline at Adventure Zone so much that I told her about the trampoline that we have for her in her new room in Maryland, so she was also excited to JUMP. Hector's mom, sister and his grandma took us to the airport and hung out with us for a few minutes until it was time to say our goodbye's. Luz didn't even bat an eye, she was trying to leave for the "PLANE!" with out us!

She was so happy and so excited until the point where the plane actually took off into the air and she looked up at us with those BEAUTIFUL big eyes filled with fear, started crying and screamed "we are falling!" She was absolutely convinced we were going to fall out of the sky. That only lasted bout 3-5 minutes, daddy held her tight and she saw that we weren't falling, and back to happy little self again! She had taken a nap on our second plane and when she woke up from that she woke up sad. She wanted to go home and she wanted her mom and other familiar family members. That lasted about 30 minutes and then she was happy again, but it was a long heart breaking 30 minutes. She was quickly excited to get to "places" and jump on her trampoline! We didn't finally get to our car at BWI until 1:00 a.m. We were all exhausted and NEVER did she complain or whine...the WHOLE day. She NEVER even asked to be carried or to have us pull her little travel suitcase. She walked...or ran when she wasn't tired, with suitcase in hand the WHOLE time. We were SOOOOOOOOOOOO proud of her! What an AWESOME little travel buddy!!!
Getting to the car was her first taste of we are not at "home" anymore. When we got to my car she said "no, this is not the car. We have a van." I said no baby this is mommy Amanda's car. She said "no, I don't like this car. I wont the van." When I opened her door and she saw the new car seat I had put in for her she said "no, I have to have a car seat." I said "this is a car seat, I bought it just for you and it even has cup holders, see?" She started crying and did NOT want to get in the new car seat. She wanted the van and her old car seat. I got her in and she cried for a while, but was so exhausted that it didn't last too long. Hector and I were very ready for a long night of tears and our hearts were breaking. I was half hoping she wouldn't wake up when we got her out of the car, to save us all from the pain but I was also afraid of not waking her up because she wouldn't know where she was and we were sleeping when she woke up in the morning.

Well I carried her inside while Hector carried some of our luggage and we got her inside her room and her eyes opened over my shoulder and she slowly looked around all around and her little face LIT up like someone had handed her Disney Land!!! She got down out of my arms and the first thing she wanted was her baby doll that I had sitting in a little high chair. She put the baby to bed in the baby doll bed right away. She then moved on to examine her Dora bed and she APPROVED. I opened the dresser drawer that has all her new jammies that Nanna bought for and she was even excited that the drawers had new clothes in them JUST FOR HER, lol. She loves the 5 little monkies jumpin on the bed song so she wore the soft, comfy monkey jammies and she thought it was funny that the monkey on the shirt is hangin upside down! She was even excited about her new SOCKS because all of her socks have been plain white and her new socks have COLORS, lol. After she was all dressed for bed she found the play, styrofoam swords that we had gotten her and we all had a very short sword fight. There was too much other stuff to see to do ANYTHING for too long, lol! She then got on the trampoline and jumped and jumped. This is all at 3:00 in the morning after traveling ALL day, hahaha. We showed her the rest of the apartment and where mommy and daddy sleep and she was fine with that.

I had set all of her toys up in her room except her kitchen, I had put that out by the real kitchen. She then began to negotiate with me. She wanted the kitchen in HER room and the trampoline should be "out here". I thought it was very funny, she already was trying to change things around! She didnt win that one...but I am sure it's not over :) We then laid down on her bed and read a book and sang some songs, while she held her big Dora doll which I think is bigger then she is until she fell sound asleep.
THE END! :)
COMING HOME!!!

They're ON their waaaaaaay!
They're IN the air!
TONIGHT little Luz will sleep in her new bed...
in her new room...
YAY!
Still Lovin' Texas...
... in which the "getting to know" of Luz goes on!
Daddy is getting to know how to do Luz's
hair! (the way I hear it, he does it better
than the mommy does!)
But I think she's wondering
"how much longer?" anyway!
(that is a LOT of hair for a little girl
to sit still through!)
But here's our little Scooter Girl!
(and those are some fiiiiiine braids
Daddy made!)
Is she big stuff or what??? JUST like cousin Autumn!!!
And here she is playing a game with her sister, Delilah and two little cousins... Marybell and Serena.
WeThey have also learned that Luz is NOT a picky eater (YAY!) and that she prefers playing to hearing stories. And though she gets very tired and still needs a nap mid-afternoon, we they have learned that she does NOT like going to sleep! She does it... but not willingly! And she LOVES playing outside! YAY again!
***************************
They went to Adventure Zone on Friday...
and learned Luz LOVES it!
Apparently Skee-ball was a little tricky though.
She found it works better LIKE THIS!!!
After watching the big kids jump on the trampoline she decided to try it too! She wonders WHY she doesn't go HIGH like they do! Amanda got on with her and MADE her go HIGH! (why wasn't I sent pictures of THAT???)
HERE she found something that works RIGHT!
Just look at that smile!
Hmmmm... Nana like carousels too...
Ahhhh... just 3 more days.... Plus.
*sigh*
Luz In Texas...
The Mommy and The Daddy arrived safely and soundly in Texas on Monday evening. They were greeted with smiles from Little Miss Luz!

They stepped straight away into their new roles, and apparently the wee one accepts this! On Tuesday she called them Mommy & Dad all day long! Amanda is LOVING her new role - she started her day with a bath for Luz, followed by Dora cereal for breakfast! We have learned though, that Apple Jacks are the FAVORITE cereal! (note to Nana... stock up!)

Apparently our Baby Girl wants to be a Rock Star one day!
I wonder what she's playing! She LOVES music!
(be still my heart!)

They took a little trip to the playground. This is Luz
with Hector's little sister, Autumn.

Look at this sweet baby!
Amanda has had a BALL playin' with that HAIR!

And here is Little Bit deep in concentration
over this book!
Amanda says they rock and they sing to put her to sleep
at night and for naps... and she goes to sleep quite easily.
I think it's all gonna be okay!
Thank you God!
Tap... Tap... Tap... Tap... Tap... Tap... Tap....
Just an ANXIOUS Nana here...
Waiting for that cute little
curly haired girl
to arrive!
*sigh*
